Permanent Part Time Shipping Assistant:  12+ hours per week

We are a small letterpress greeting card company with a brick and mortar gift shop in the heart of Logan Square.  We print and package our cards in house and sell our items online and wholesale to retail shops across the country. We are looking for a detail oriented, organized person ideally with shipping and small business experience.

The first step in the hiring process is to send us a cover letter along with your resume. No phone calls or drop ins please.  We want to see your initiative and hear why you're uniquely qualified and what you can bring to Steel Petal Press.

Shipping Tasks Include

  • Process, package, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently
  • Securely package orders of varying sizes to eliminate damage while in transit
  • Ensure all outgoing orders are correct
  • Schedule FedEx or USPS pickups
  • Monitor shipping supplies to be ordered

Production Tasks Include

  • Counting inventory and keeping inventory organized
  • Folding, sleeving and packaging product

Additional

  • Cover retail / cashiering / support front of house retail shop as needed
  • Contribute efficiency and  process improvements as needed
  • Cost-cutting and time-saving ideas for shipping methods

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience shipping through major mail carriers (including: USPS, UPS, FedEx) 
  • Understanding and experience using e-commerce sites (Etsy, Shopfiy)
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Love of systems and ability to streamline workflow for maximized efficiency
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team player.
  • Has a fun, upbeat personality and positive attitude
  • Enthusiasm to learn new things and take on new challenges
  • Passionately believes in what we do and supports our mission, message and products
  • Understanding of what it means to work for a small business

Bonus (but not required) if you have the following:

  • a love of stationery
  • Familiar with craft businesses or gift industry
  • Familiar with our shipping software (Shipstation)

Personality means a lot! It is important that you understand our brand and fit in well with our small team.  We are interested in hiring the right person and training them to fit our specific needs. We prioritize work culture. Resumes without the ideal experience will still be considered.
